Post Performance Syndrome...

So there have been a few shows recently. Generally, it feels good to be playing live again. Althought the new setup needs a lot of work until it functions in a way that I want it to. But that's only my stuff and I didn't really expect it to work right away. In any case, it would be way less of a problem if it wasn't for all those fucking annoying PA idiots.

How come so many sound system people are just absolute fucking pussies when it comes to aggressive electronic live music? They bring a completely oversized PA to the venue and play punk bands and breakcore records at deafening volumes, but once I'm on, they shit their pants and turn the levels down to barely audible. Even if I tell them to turn it up about 4 times. Of course then the audience gets annoyed and leaves.

GROW SOME BALLS OR GET A FUCKING LIMITER, ASSHOLES!

It is so incredibly annoying to have just another performance ruined by some sound guy who just doesn't fucking get it.

And don't even get me started about that drugged idiot who thinks he needs to touch my instruments/mixer/whatever.

Yes, I am in a slightly bad mood.

Autumnblips.

I have posted it elsewhere on christmas, but I completely forgot to post it here. Oh well, happy chinese new year then...

Here is the recording of my gig at autumnblips at Panke in Berlin.
A few months after this gig, the memory battery of one of my gameboy cartridges died, thereby erasing two years worth of songs. The idiot that I am also hasn't really taken care of backing up anything since then. Some of those songs I have not even recorded. I will never be able to play, let alone hear them anymore. No one will. They will be fading ghosts in the back of my brain that will haunt me whenever I get reminded of a particular melody or a beat or whatever...

Everytime I touch my Gameboy now, or actually any portable gaming device, it burns LIKE HELL!!!!. I will have to learn to love it again, but right now the disappointment is overpowering.

This was the last real 'official' recording from this particular cart. It feels very important to me, because it kind of sums up what I've been doing in those two years. And it shows me that it's time for a change in program. The Gameboy has dominated my set for quite a while now and in a way, I have started to let myself be limited through that.

So, a few days ago, I built a new Lab, And from here on, I think my sound will be a bit different again. Looking forward to a new challenge.

Videophone new step!

Yesterday, I built in the internal screen.
Pretty machine.
I'm working on this like crazy again. Also, a few days ago, I finished general bending on a Zoom 506 II bass pedal. Needs a bit more polishing and some solution for a nice controllable internal feedback.
But already: O.M.F.G!!!

videophone screen

A lot more soon to come.

Fuck Yeah!

Talk at Music Hackspace

Yep, this time, I actually managed to both bring my Flip camera and ask someone to film for me. I should do this more often.

Videophone growing

I finally managed to upload some stuff I recorded with the Videophone (which now also has it's final name, yay). I'm still building on it like crazy, so there's lots more to come.

Here's also a picture of its last stage (it already looks different again, but I am way slower with documenting than I am with building.

Videophone

I am currently building the screen to the left inside the housing.

Here's two recordings I've made. More to come, soon.

Video Glitch Thing

There's something awesome growing and it's high time I posted it here:

So yeah... these are the first tests with the new video glitch thing I'm building. No better name yet, but oooh it's gonna look sexy!

It's based on Gijs Gieskes brilliant GVP1 Video effects processor

As usually, I'm going way over the top with the circuit bending. And then there will also be the whole VGA part of it which I haven't even messed with, yet.

Exciting.

soon more.

atmer: dlp

It sometimes happens that I find myself creating something that just makes me sit back and stare at it forever. It happened in this case and I'm really proud of it. Made only with a few lines of improper html (marquee tag), a bit of css and one gif animation.

It also marks the 27th addition to the ongoing atmer project
